MPL – Project Engineer – Corrosion Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will work as a Project Engineer within the Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) Corrosion Management Services (CMS) department. The primary responsibility of this position is to execute cathodic protection maintenance projects for MPL and Terminal Services assets from coast-to-coast, including new installations and replacements of rectifiers, anode ground beds, and test stations. The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing an annual project program which averages over 50 sites and $2MM annually. This position collaborates daily with other CMS personnel including corrosion specialists, technicians, and engineers. It also routinely collaborates with other departments within MPL and Terminal Services including Integrity Engineering, Field Operations, Field Services and Planning, Engineering and Maintenance, and Regulatory Compliance. The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all projects are successfully completed before compliance or budget deadlines and are thoroughly documented to meet regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITISES:

  • Execute cathodic protection (CP) maintenance projects ensuring that pipeline assets meet the requirements of DOT Part 195 Subpart H.
  • Project management tasks including cost estimating, schedule management, evaluating and selecting contractor bids, construction supervision, coordination with operations, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with other CMS personnel to ensure appropriate designs are correctly installed and commissioned in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain program management procedures to drive efficient execution across dozens of sites across the United States.
  • Continually strive for a higher level of project management and technical knowledge through literature review, training/certifications and study of industry practices.
  • Perform annual program performance assessments to review efficiency and effectiveness metrics with department leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (electrical or corrosion engineering preferred)
  • 2+ years project management experience

AMPP/NACE Cathodic Protection certifications preferred
