Job Purpose
Under general direction, independently determines, and develops approaches to solutions for design, research, test, and installation of Solar turbomachinery products. DIMENSIONS:

Problem Assignments:

Develops solutions to a variety of problems. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Impact:

Failure to obtain results or erroneous decision or recommendations could cause delays in program schedules and result in the allocation of additional resources.


NATURE AND SCOPE:

Requires full use and application of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of mechanical design, aero-thermodynamics, heat transfer, drafting/CADs, computer code development, and materials with an understanding of established analytical/scientific methods and procedures.

Able to interpret engineering drawings. Knowledgeable in the use and application of engineering analysis techniques. Familiar with standard gas turbine manufacturing, quality, design, and analysis methods.

Contacts are typically with design, design layout, drafting, aero-thermo, materials, test, control system, combustion, manufacturing, purchasing, and instrumentation engineers/departments. Occasionally will interact with external customers and suppliers on routine matters.

Requires a demonstrated record of accomplishment.

Provide detailed definition for new components and products, verify design configuration specification requirements, perform detailed engineering analyses, establish component life based on fatigue and fracture analysis or other techniques, specify laboratory tests required to substantiate design requirements and document results.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

In addition to accountabilities associated with lower grades, performs specific engineering assignments which could include (but are not limited to) any combination of the following major activities:

1.Development of effective engineering solutions to assigned tasks that meet Company/program objectives

2.Review, validate and document the technical output from assigned tasks
3.Perform as an effective team member in cross-fanctional development teams
4.Utilizing established design methodology, design, analysis and verification testing in support of major gas turbine engine development and production programs.
