Job Purpose
Complete low level assignments related to routine refurbishment, modification, and rework of gas turbine engine packages. Applies limited knowledge of refurbishment, mechanics, or electronics to support more experienced team members. In turn, acquires additional skills and knowledge about turbomachinery systems, packages, and the refurbishment process.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Applies basic electronic or mechanical knowledge to execute tasks, assist higher level technicians, participate in team assignments to update and refurbish packages to customer specifications. Works under close supervision using verbal instructions and some engineering documentation as guidance. Learns to use shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools, and inspection equipment. Assignments could include (but are not limited to) any of the following activities:

1. Tearing down packages and parts received from customer or other Solar locations, cleaning and preparing same for refurbishment.

2. Determining if parts are reusable, locating replacement parts from any of several possible locations. Reassembling sections of the package.

3. Preparing parts for painting, preparing the paint booth, and completing paint activities.

4. Learning and performing duties related to the small components area.

5. Applies increasing knowledge base of electronics to assemble package controls, referring to specification sheets and engineering drawings to update old systems with the new technology.

6. Applies increasing knowledge of mechanical assembly to work package parts, per customer requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience in a warehouse and/or manufacturing and remanufacturing shop environment.
• Proficient computer skills, including both ERP systems BAAN 5C and LN.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate material handling equipment, such as overhead crane, forklift, order picker and pallet jack, to properly handle large crates and equipment moved in the warehouse.
• Capable of repetitive lifting and moving of parts weighing 25 lbs. Able to stand for prolonged periods of time with frequent breaks.
• Work weekends and open to be on-call/standby when needed.
• Be able to apply and foster safety as a priority and carry out tasks and responsibilities with professionalism and respect.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Possess a desire for continuous improvement.
• Prior participation and experience with Lean and other improvement initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
