The Principal Simulator Design Engineers will contribute to the designing process of a SMR-160 small modular reactor (an unfailingly safe and secure source of clean energy using nuclear fission).
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software utilized in the SMR-160 simulator;
- Apply industry best practices, codes and standards, and regulatory guidance to support the development of control strategies and simulator-assisted design activities;
- Perform programming to develop and improve the SMR-160 power plant simulator models;
- Maintain configuration control of power plant simulator models;
- Support simulation assisted design scope through model and control logic variations;
- Support development of system and integrated plant control logic;
- Support interfacing the power plant simulator with the plant control platform provider; and
- Support development of SMR-160 human-system interface concepts with the plant digital control system supplier and other project stakeholders.
Qualifications/Experience:
- 3 years of experience in a related occupation
- Masterβs degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field;
- OR Bachelorβs degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in a related occupation;
- Experience working in fossil or nuclear energy industry;
- Experience working with instrumentation and control of integrated systems;
- Experience with Western Services Corporation 3KeyMaster simulation tool suite;
- Experience with DCSs, PLCs, HMIs and requirements in a nuclear setting;
- Experience with Control of I&C, process, and nuclear system for light water nuclear reactors;
- Experience with integrated process control strategies;
- Experience using FlowBase software for process simulations;
- Experience using RELAP for simulations; and
- Must be eligible to work in accordance with DOE 10 CFR section 810.
